TV21 | All Join Hands (Decca) 1982 | Would have loved to give these deserving open arms a single of the week. TV21 being a pet love of mine, but it’s just stuck in a box marked Human League soundalikes.
Why? This band have ten open roads to travel along and they choose the one with hundreds of muddy footprints. U turn, and fast. (Sounds, 20/02/82)
Surprise, surprise. Those whom I once berated for wilfully making loser music come up with a song fairly oozing character. Strings and piano flesh out a song that’s second cousin to a big sixties pop ballad.
Not much to my taste mind, but at least it’s something to get your teeth into. (Record Mirror, 20/02/82)
Frustration. TV21 always give you a “now” sound without coming through themselves. This, at least, is a stronger tune than usual, but it won’t set many imaginations on fire. (NME, 27/02/82)
